The Struggle of Learning!

Standard

20131216-103610.jpg

Was stalking on Instagram and then i came across this post! It gave me few emotions at one time! I was smiling, surprised, sad, proud… (Yeah! That much of emotions!)

I’m proud of these girls and their parents! We do take things for granted A LOT! Time to be grateful…

Sadly, the real danger comes to women is from another woman! We must teach our girls and boys to respect each other and to fight and struggle for their rights!

We all know that, if a country wants to grow, they must let and provide a healthy environment for their women to grow FIRST! And that’s what Islam teaches us as well! Some Muslims have gotten a wrong idea about it. The status of women is highest in Islam!

Well, Pictures do speak a thousand words! (But i cant type all those words out here!) and that’s why i love Instagram (@lifeofamna)

This photo was not taken by me neither do i have any rights or whatsoever over this picture!

Don’t Kill your Baby Girls And Teach your Sons to Respect them! ( and also teach them to control their hormones)

Till next time…

Ramadan Mubarak!

Standard

Image

Ramadan Mubarak/ Ramzan Mubarak/Kareem Selamat berpuasa etc.. You’ve been hearing this or even seeing these wishes on twitter or FB and even on IG! What really is Ramadan? and Why do Muslims all over the world celebrate it?

Ramadan is a 9th month of Islamic Calender, in which Muslims (Men and Women) fast for the whole month (period of 30 days) for the sake of Allah. Fasting during Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five pillars of Islam (Believe in one Allah, 5 Prayers, Charity, Fasting during Ramadan and Pilgrimage to Mecca ~ Hajj). Fasting during this is an obligatory for all the adult (once they’ve reached Puberty) Muslims, except those who are ill, travelling, pregnant, diabetic or going through menstruation.

However, they are required to pay back their fast when they are healthy or return back from their journey.

Chapter 2, Revelation 185 of the Quran:

The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran; a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; He desires not hardship for you; and that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that perhaps you may be thankful. [Quran 2:185]

The time of the fast is from dawn until sunset.  Food and drink is served daily, before sunrise and after sunset. Dates become the important part of the Meal as its the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.

During their fast, Muslims refrain from eating/drinking, smoking, and engaging in sexual relations and all other forbidden things in Islam like swearing, backbiting gossiping, lying etc.

In this month, all the rewards are multiplied and therefore Muslims are encouraged to increase their good deeds! A good deed in Islam can be as simple as Smiling and Giving to Salam to each other!

The Month of Blessings, is divided into 3 parts. The first 10 days are believed to be of Allah’s Mercy, the next 10 days of Ramadan are for Forgiveness and the last 10 days are Release from hell fire.

During this month, the Gates of Heavens are open and the Gates of Hell are closed and Shaitan (Satan) is locked. During this Month, many Muslims who usually don’t abide by the rules and regulation of Islam (May Allah Guide Them) turn over a new leaf and make many resolutions such as to pray 5 times a day, quit smoking, giving charity etc.

Qura’n, the holy book of Islam was revealed in the month of Ramadan. Many Muslims read the Qura’n with the translation during this month so as to become better Muslims even after the Ramadan. The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, so as to cleanse the soul by freeing it from harmful impurities. Thus, fasting cure the diseased hearts and souls.

Ramadan also teaches Muslims self-discipline and to be in the shoes of those who are less fortunate; thus encouraging compulsory charity (Zakat – another important pillar of Islam)

Tarawih, special evening prayer is conducted after Isha (The last prayer of the day) during the month of Ramadan. During this prayer, one recite long sections Qura’n (1/30 Juz every day or more) So, before the end of Ramadan, the whole Qur’an will been completed.

When The month of Blessings and mercy ends, its followed by Eid-ul-fitr (Feast of breaking the Fast) or Hari Raya Puasa and its also the beginning of the 10th month of Islamic calendar – Shawwal.

And when its the time of Eid, all we do is eat, enjoy and Thank Allah and of course, not forgetting the resolution we’ve made and practiced during Ramadan!

There is a lot more about the Blessed month of Ramadan which i can’t summarize into one blog post! Kindly, Pardon me for the mistakes! Indeed, Allah knows best!

That’s all for now! happy Fasting! May Allah make me and you a better Muslim and Human.

To have Evil Desires, is Human, but to Resist them is Muslim!

Time Management!

Standard

Image

Many deadlines to meet but can’t manage your time! Not productive enough and/or cant finish your tasks on time? Ive been through this as well and now let me help you!

Firstly, what is time management? Its the  act or process of planning and exercising conscious control over the amount of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity. Too much to absorb? basically its just a skill which helps you accomplish your tasks/goals on time so as to increase productivity!

We are living in a multi-tasking society, we have to study, work, play, have some family time or maybe just read or write blogs! We must learn to manage our time to reduce stress. Below are some tips which you can rely on…

  1. Get your priorities right!
  2. Admit that you aint a super hero and cant accomplish all task at once, pay full attention to 1 goal at a time! if you are studying just study and if you are reading this post just focus on this!
  3. Break your goals into smaller units of work.
  4. Make it easy to get started or you can also choose to finish the harder one first. ( whichever way suits you!)
  5. Make a to-do list every day! ( it doesn’t have to be the most stylish one out there, you can jot down on small piece of paper, so you know exactly what you are gonna face today)
  6. Its ok be to slow! Remember we are humans and not machines or super heroes! Give your self some time!
  7. Think ahead, look ahead… spot troubles ahead. If you have an appointment coming up write it down so you can plan accordingly!
  8. Be honest to yourself and your loved ones, if you think you need a break and you wont be able handle any outings tell them! they love you and they will understand you! ( But please don’t do this every other day and kindly avoid last minute cancellation)
  9. Finish what’s important and stop doing what’s no longer worthwhile.
  10. Last but most important! Maintain a lifestyle that will give you maximum energy. Do exercise at least three times a week, eating a healthy diet and getting enough sleep.

Im not saying these are just the things you need to work on but they are the few important ones! So think about what are the obstacles you need to deal with. Whatever you do, do with determination and a believe that its ok to slow down or make mistakes!

Well that’s all for now! Keep reading and feel free to comment below!

Boxing Day!

Aside

What is Boxing Day? Why do we celebrate such day and why is it called Boxing Day? Well, it’s not related to boxing! Well it’s celebrated on the 26th of December a day after Christmas, when servants and tradesmen would receive gifts from their superiors as thanks for good service throughout the year. Cool huh?

It’s a national holiday in the UK and Ireland. Good for them as they have another day to celebrate Christmas with family and eat all the leftovers….

Boxing Day is a time to spend with family or friends, usually those not seen on Christmas Day itself. It was more like a charity day but now it is more seen as a sports day, we have many matches played around the world. Many countries have horse racing, soccer matches and they also organise other fun filled activities for families to enjoy before they need to back to the “reality”. their are even Sales going on in shopping malls!

There are still many arguments on why it is called boxing day at first place, however, I heard that it name derived from the word BOX… you know that square box and Boxing itself! How creative! LOL!

Well, that’s for now! Happy New Year!

Sunglasses!

Standard

Image

Sunglasses can do more than making you look good! Wearing sunglasses actually prevents you from many health conditions due to UV rays! There are several medical benefits to wearing sunglasses depending on the medical condition, below are just SOME of the benefits:

  • UV Protection
  • Reduction in headaches and eye strains
  • keep your eyes wet
  • Reduce effects of jet leg! yes im serious, research shows that people who limit  exposure to UV rays during a long overseas trip, effects of jet lag may be greatly reduced.
  • Prevents Cataracts – Blur or cloudy vision (mostly common in senior citizens.
  • Prevents Photokeratitis. Photokeratitis is a sunburn on the eyes.
  • Pinguecula. A non-cancerous eye growth on the white part of the eye that can develop in everyone from kids to seniors.

ok now you must be excited to get yourself a new pair of sunglasses but must be worried at the same time about the type of sunglasses you should get so you don’t become a laughing stock infront of others! In order to choose the perfect fit you must know your face shape:

  • Oval
  • Heart
  • Diamond
  • Square
  • Round
  • Oblong

Oval face: Just like with choosing a haircut, an oval face is the (ahem) “ideal”, meaning that most shapes will suit you.  Go nuts, ye of the blessed face shape!

Round face: You’ll want frames that make your face look longer & slimmer.  Frames that are equal to or a little wider than the broadest part of your face will help achieve this.  You can add some definition by going for frames that are quite angular or rectangular in shape.

Diamond face: As your face is quite angular naturally, oval-shaped sunglasses will soften you.  You can also try gently curved square frames.  You will look best if the frames aren’t any wider than your cheekbones.

Square face: You can reduce the squareness of your face by wearing frames that are soft & curvy while having a strong shape.  Cat’s-eye frames are ideal, as are ovals & round shapes.

Oblong face: Frames shouldn’t extend past the widest area of your face.  You should go for round & square shapes as this will widen & shorten your face.

Triangle/heart shape: The aim is to make the jaw look narrower, & the best way to do this is by accenting the eye area.  Cat’s-eye styles are good as well as metal frames with rimless bottoms

For more info read up this article or go to any sunglasses or optician they should be able to help you! (http://galadarling.com/article/choosing-sunglasses-that-suit-you)

Now! im not asking you to go crazy over my research and buy those expensive pair of glasses, the truth is any sun glasses which are able to provide UV protection and are  polarized will be able to help you and your eyes!

BUT!  i dont want you to buy them from those dollar shop as those sunglasses offer no UV protection, you increase your exposure to UV rays. The cheap sunglasses block some of the light, causing your iris to open to allow more light in. This lets in more of the UV light as well, increasing the damage UV light can cause to the retina. DONT worry not all GOOD sunglasses are expensive and NOT all the useless ones are cheap! The prices can range from Less than $20 up to several hundreds, depending on the features and the name! and your budget allowance aswell!

Rest, Recover and Reward!

Standard

image

Rest, Recover and Reward

Rest is just as important to your workout regime as exercise — it rejuvenates the body and mind, regulates mood, builds strength, and reduces fatigue. While it may be tempting to push your body to build more muscle and lose more weight, inevitably, without recovery, your body will fail.

Most injuries come from overuse so challenge yourself to a day of rest when you can catch up on sleep, practice light stretching, and restore your body.

Less is more on recovery days — fortify your mind with a simple meditation exercise. Close your eyes and breathe naturally as you think of the number 1 on each inhale. Continue this for at least 5 minutes, if your mind begins to wander, pull it back to “one.”

Just because you’re in recovery mode doesn’t mean you can’t stay active; try engaging in light stretching or a low-impact walk to fend off sluggishness and stiff muscles. Be sure to keep the volume and intensity very light (below 60% max heart rate!)

You don’t have any exercise scheduled for today, but if you don’t want to make today your “you” day, choose another day this week and clear your schedule as much as possible. Make time today or late this week for one exercise to strengthen your mind and one to restore your body.

Proper rest and proper nutrition is the key for quick recovery.  Make sure you’re getting proper nutrition BEFORE, DURING and AFTER your training/racing..and make sure you’re getting adequate rest.  If you’re unsure as to HOW MUCH rest you REALLY need..it is better to error on the “more rest is best” side.
