Well I’m a foodie! (a big one) and i love to take pictures of it from every possible angle. So, i thought, why not blog about it and share my “international” food with my fellow bloggers.

Sunglasses!

Sunglasses can do more than making you look good! Wearing sunglasses actually prevents you from many health conditions due to UV rays! There are several medical benefits to wearing sunglasses depending on the medical condition, below are just SOME of the benefits:

  • UV Protection
  • Reduction in headaches and eye strains
  • keep your eyes wet
  • Reduce effects of jet leg! yes im serious,research shows that people who limit  exposure to UV rays during a long overseas trip, effects of jet lag may be greatly reduced.
  • Prevents Cataracts – Blur or cloudy vision (mostly common in senior citizens.
  • Prevents Photokeratitis. Photokeratitis is a sunburn on the eyes.
  • Pinguecula. A non-cancerous eye growth on the white part of the eye that can develop in everyone from kids to seniors.

ok now you must be excited to get yourself a new pair of sunglasses but must be worried at the same time about the type of sunglasses you should get so you don’t become a laughing stock infront of others! In order to choose the perfect fit you must know your face shape:

  • Oval
  • Heart
  • Diamond
  • Square
  • Round
  • Oblong

Oval face: Just like with choosing a haircut, an oval face is the (ahem) “ideal”, meaning that most shapes will suit you.  Go nuts, ye of the blessed face shape!

Round face: You’ll want frames that make your face look longer & slimmer.  Frames that are equal to or a little wider than the broadest part of your face will help achieve this.  You can add some definition by going for frames that are quite angular or rectangular in shape.

Diamond face: As your face is quite angular naturally, oval-shaped sunglasses will soften you.  You can also try gently curved square frames.  You will look best if the frames aren’t any wider than your cheekbones.

Square face: You can reduce the squareness of your face by wearing frames that are soft & curvy while having a strong shape.  Cat’s-eye frames are ideal, as are ovals & round shapes.

Oblong face: Frames shouldn’t extend past the widest area of your face.  You should go for round & square shapes as this will widen & shorten your face.

Triangle/heart shape: The aim is to make the jaw look narrower, & the best way to do this is by accenting the eye area.  Cat’s-eye styles are good as well as metal frames with rimless bottoms

Now! im not asking you to go crazy over my research and buy those expensive pair of glasses, the truth is any sun glasses which are able to provide UV protection and are  polarized will be able to help you and your eyes!

BUT!  i dont want you to buy them from those dollar shop as those sunglasses offer no UV protection, you increase your exposure to UV rays. The cheap sunglasses block some of the light, causing your iris to open to allow more light in. This lets in more of the UV light as well, increasing the damage UV light can cause to the retina. DONT worry not all GOOD sunglasses are expensive and NOT all the useless ones are cheap! The prices can range from Less than $20 up to several hundreds, depending on the features and the name! and your budget allowance aswell!

Rest, Recover and Reward!

Rest, Recover and Reward

Rest is just as important to your workout regime as exercise — it rejuvenates the body and mind, regulates mood, builds strength, and reduces fatigue. While it may be tempting to push your body to build more muscle and lose more weight, inevitably, without recovery, your body will fail.

Most injuries come from overuse so challenge yourself to a day of rest when you can catch up on sleep, practice light stretching, and restore your body.

Less is more on recovery days — fortify your mind with a simple meditation exercise. Close your eyes and breathe naturally as you think of the number 1 on each inhale. Continue this for at least 5 minutes, if your mind begins to wander, pull it back to “one.”

Just because you’re in recovery mode doesn’t mean you can’t stay active; try engaging in light stretching or a low-impact walk to fend off sluggishness and stiff muscles. Be sure to keep the volume and intensity very light (below 60% max heart rate!)

You don’t have any exercise scheduled for today, but if you don’t want to make today your “you” day, choose another day this week and clear your schedule as much as possible. Make time today or late this week for one exercise to strengthen your mind and one to restore your body.

Proper rest and proper nutrition is the key for quick recovery.  Make sure you’re getting proper nutrition BEFORE, DURING and AFTER your training/racing..and make sure you’re getting adequate rest.  If you’re unsure as to HOW MUCH rest you REALLY need..it is better to error on the “more rest is best” side.

Sleeping!

Do you want to be productive, mentally sharp, emotionally balanced and full of energy all day long? Then make sure you have sufficient amount of sleep! The way you feel during the day hinges on how well you sleep at night.

Many researches have been done to prove sleeping is an essential part of our daily life, sleep is the sweet balm that soothes and restores us after a long day of work and play.

But there are many people whom sleep is elusive or otherwise troubled, the issue is far more fraught. Most people, at some point in their lives, experience difficulty falling asleep. “Sleep Enemies” such as sleep apnea, night terrors, narcolepsy, and sleep paralysis are common.

The good news is that treatment of sleep disorders is progressing rapidly, with new advancements. With few simple steps you can have your beauty sleep you deserve!

1. Use your bed for only sleeping and sex.

Do not work or study in bed. You start to connect your bed with stress, and that can in turn impact your ability to get to sleep.

2. Turn off electronics at least 30 minutes before bed.

This is true! Technologies are the biggest distraction around us!

3. Keep the same bedtime/waketime.

Your body needs to know your schedule so it can work accordingly!

4. Get regular exercise.

Exercising on a regular basis can help you get a better night’s rest. Exercise can also help combat depression and anxiety. Depression and anxiety can also lead to sleeping disorders. (obviously, when you are tired you will just run for your bed!)

5. Have a sleep-conducive environment.

6. Get checked for sleep apnea.

7. Your night wear must be comfortable.

Well now you must not spend your whole day sleeping just because it will benefit you, infact if you sleep more than you should you will get SICK!

Here is the daily hours of sleep people need at the different stages of their lives:

  • Infants (younger than 11 months): 14 to 15 hours of sleep
  • Toddlers: 12 to 14 hours of sleep
  • Preschoolers: 11 to 13 hours of sleep
  • Children: 10 to 11 hours of sleep
  • Adults: 7 to 8 hours of sleep (adolescents need a bit more)
  • Older adults: 7 to 9 hours of sleep

If you think you are having sleeping disorder jot down your sleeping pattern in your diary for atleast a week and bring it along with you on your visit to the doctor! and if you know that you are not getting enough sleep due to depression/anxiety consult with doctor ASAP!

In my opinion, Sleeping is the God’s gift for humans for working hard whole day! wait even animals need to sleep! So switch of your computers or any other gadgets and get some sleep! Sweet dreams! Zzzz!

Walking!

Do you know how to walk? You’ve been doing it all your life but are you doing it right?

Walk this way

  • Relax shoulders and keep them back and down
  • Stand tall with a slightly lifted chest and a straight back
  • Opt for a rucksack that distributes weight evenly across shoulders
  • Bend arms 90 degrees at the elbow and swing in time with the opposite leg. This balances the body
  • Point chin down and pull in slightly to place neck in a neutral position. This supports the head and prevents neck pain
  • Check hips are level; knees pointing forwards. keep pelvis tucked under torso
  • Check steps are of equal length
  • Don’t tilt your head to one side, hold it straight
  • Don’t slump your shoulders
  • Don’t strike the ground with your toe first. use your heel
    first, then feel the pressure roll towards balls of your feet, then push off
    your toes

Walking: The easiest yet most effective exercise! It has many benefits, such it will prevent type 2 diabetes colon and breast cancer, Make your heart stronger, its good for your brain and it will help you to lose weight! Yes! Walking with a good diet can help you burn a lot more calories! An average human have to take 10,000 steps a day to stay fit and healthy! sound alot? think again! It is not a very difficult task, 1 hour on a treadmill can easily give you more than 1,000 steps!

Well walking have a lot of benefits, but if ill go on and explain each and everyone you will not have a time to finish your 10,000 step a day goal! so go and wear your most comfortable clothes and shoes, grab a water bottle and your pedometer and start WALKING!
